• As a legal intern at the ACLU of Southern California, assisted in drafting a successful amicus curiae brief in, Alvarado v. Superior Court of Los Angeles, a civil rights and criminal procedure case decided by the California Supreme Court.

• Participated pro bono in the San Francisco Bar Association's Volunteer Legal Services Program's Homeless Advocacy Project.

 

Experience

• Extensive litigation experience practicing employment law, including all forms of discrimination suits, wrongful termination, FMLA, and wage and hour issues in state and federal courts throughout California.

• Successfully defended clients in the areas of §17200 (unfair competition law) claims in hard-fought and complex claims on demurrer and motions for summary judgment.

• Fully service retail clients with both non-litigation legal issues and litigation matters in areas of premises liability, products liability, personal injury, wrongful death, general commercial litigation, and pharmacy law.

• Successfully mediated disputes in employment law, discrimination, and personal injury cases.

• Representation of individuals in breach of contract, conspiracy, and false imprisonment and defamation cases.

Recent Successes and Achievements

• Obtained dismissal of disability discrimination lawsuit in federal court with successful motion to dismiss on statute of limitations grounds.

• Successfully drafted and argued motions for summary judgment and partial summary judgment in several cases involving issues of premises liability, employment discrimination, breach of contract, conspiracy, wrongful termination, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress in both state and federal courts.

• Settled lawsuit on behalf of employer and successfully recouped $70,000.00 wrongfully retained by former employee.

• Settled lawsuit filed by employee against supervisor and employer alleging negligence and battery for $4,000.00 before incurring any extensive legal fees.

• Defended numerous employment discrimination complaints brought before administrative agencies, resulting in the closure of such cases based on findings of “no probable cause” or “no evidence of violation.”

• Prepared and worked up numerous cases to trial, resulting in favorable settlements for clients.
